When ICEYE needed a reliable way to verify the accuracy of their satellite radar measurements, they partnered with GNO SYS to build the ground reference points that would make it possible. Our team designed and installed custom corner reflectors that give ICEYE a clear and consistent signal to compare against what their satellites see from orbit.
These reflectors act as bright, dependable targets in SAR imagery, helping ICEYE confirm that their satellites can detect very small movements on the ground with millimetre level precision. This level of accuracy is important for monitoring infrastructure, tracking environmental change, and supporting disaster response.
To make this work, we created reflectors that produce strong radar returns, installed them on stable foundations, and engineered a simple but precise height adjustment system. With twenty turns of a hand crank, the reflector moves exactly one millimetre. ICEYE can then re image the site and confirm that the change is detected.
The results were clear. ICEYE validated that their satellites can measure small vertical shifts with impressive accuracy. This strengthens confidence in the data their satellites deliver to governments, emergency managers, and industry partners.
